First ever expression of a gene from ammonia-oxidizing bacteria
in Escherichia coli

Lanes 3 to 5 show the expression of the 3 nearly identical, ~ 30-kDa AmoA proteins from Nitrosospira NpAV in recombinant host E. coli. Lane 2 shows the fluid from the insertless plasmid-carrying host which lacks this protein.
